Advisory Groups

As part of our commitment to strengthening community participation, we have restructured our former linkage groups into three new Advisory Groups to align with our pillars:

  • Community & Voluntary
  • Environmental
  • Social Inclusion

What are Advisory Groups?

Advisory Groups are a way for PPN members to help guide and support PPN Representatives, who speak on behalf of your community in local government meetings.

With Advisory Groups, you can:

  • Share your thoughts and ideas
  • Highlight important issues that matter to your community
  • Help influence decisions and policies that affect your area

The groups are a forum to discuss what’s happening on local authority boards or committees so members can give useful advice to your Representatives. They’ll also help shape opinions or suggestions that the Representative can take forward.

They make sure lots of different voices are heard, not just one point of view, when decisions are being made at the local level.

Basically, it’s about teamwork and making sure your community gets a say in what happens locally. Sound like something you’d want to be part of?

Who can join?

Advisory Groups are open to any member of organisations/groups registered with Kildare PPN regardless of your group’s pillar. For example, if you’re part of a community and voluntary group but have a strong interest in environmental issues, you’re totally free to join the Environment Advisory Group.

How often do Advisory Groups meet?

Advisory Groups will meet as often as they determine but at least twice per year. After each meeting, the advisory group will upload a report from their meeting to the Kildare PPN website.
