Kildare Library Service – Bringing the Library to Your Door.

Kildare Library Service is delighted to announce the launch of a library housebound service for elderly and vulnerable residents of Kildare who are cocooning due to the Covid-19 emergency.

A wide variety of books, audiobooks, large print titles and DVDs are available. The library service hopes that engaging with the service will provide some entertainment and help to lighten the days ahead for those who are dealing with challenging and isolating circumstances.

The service is co-ordinated through Kildare County Council’s Community Call Helpline. Once a person calls the helpline, they will be asked some questions about their preferred reading material, and a selection of 5 library items will be delivered to their home by a member of the library team. The library team will also collect the items once the person has finished with them and provide a new selection if they would like them.

It is important to note that this service is available to all cocooning residents in the county, young or old, and you do not have to be an existing member of the library to take part.

If you, or someone you know, would benefit from this service then contact the Community Call Helpline on 1800 300 174 or covidsupport@kildarecoco.ie

To keep up to date on the ‘Bringing the Library to your Door’ service,  and all library events and initiatives, you can subscribe to the library service newsletter at http://kildare.ie/library/newsletter/subscribe/index.html

HSE guidelines will be adhered to in the delivery of this new service.
