The next meeting for the Community and Voluntary Advisory group will take place on Wednesday the 24th of September 2025 at 8:00pm on Zoom. The advisory group is open to all PPN members to join.

Facilitation Skills Training
|
Kildare PPN are hosting a Facilitator Skills Training for our Advisory Group Facilitators on Monday, 13 October at 7:00pm via Zoom. With 13 spaces available, we’re also opening the session to anyone who may be interested in becoming an Advisory Group facilitator in the future, or simply looking to develop their facilitation skills.
Effective facilitation can lead to clearer focus and purposeful action. In this workshop you will be introduced to principles, tools and techniques to design and deliver engaging events and meetings, as well as some tips for overcoming facilitation challenges. You will have a chance to reflect on your facilitation style, and we will also cover practical tools to facilitate online meetings.

Smart and Sustainable Mobility Accelerator Training Programme
|
The Regional Assemblies, with the Department of Transport and BABLE GmbH, have invited PPNs to nominate up to five members for free 90-minute sessions on sustainable mobility. The programme, a national Pathfinder Project, aims to equip communities with tools to advance active travel, influence policy, and support greener, people-focused transport.
Sessions times and dates are:

CFI Biodiversity Fund 2025
|
Community Foundation Ireland’s Biodiversity Fund is open for applications.
There are two strands to this year’s grant round:
1. Community groups are invited to apply for a grant to engage an ecologist and develop a Community Biodiversity Action Plan (CBAP) for their local area. Please find more information in our Criteria document here.
2. CFI are inviting any organisation who has a CBAP to apply for funding to implement recommendations contained in it. Please find more information in our Criteria document here.

New Green Economy Training Courses in County Kildare

County Kildare LEADER Partnership has launched a new series of fully funded Green Economy training courses to support employees living or working in Just Transition regions (Athy and Clane/Maynooth). Delivered by ifac, these hybrid courses focus on circular economy, sustainability, and regenerative farming, helping participants cut costs, strengthen green credentials, and access new opportunities. Flexible modules allow employees to upskill in areas such as sustainable organisations, supply chains, governance, and farming practices.

Charity Trustees’ Week 2025

Charity Trustees’ Week is a great big THANK YOU to charity trustees across Ireland for the important and tireless work they carry out throughout the year in the governance and leadership of Ireland’s charities. It is organised in partnership by the Charities Regulator, Boardmatch Ireland, Carmichael, Charities Institute Ireland, Dóchas, Pobal, The Wheel, and Volunteer Ireland.
All week, there will be a range of free events to celebrate the work of charity trustees and provide support and insights to help them in their roles and responsibilities.

DRCDG approved €468,000 for Conradh na Gaeilge’s ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ initiative for the period 2026 and 2027

- Céad Míle Fáilte is an innovative and exciting initiative, which focuses on new communities in Ireland to give them an Irish language experience.
- Participants are provided with classes, workshops, awareness events and scholarships to the Gaeltacht
- In 2024, participants in the scheme came from backgrounds all over the world, including people from Ukraine, Sudan, Turkey, Palestine, America and Nigeria, among many other countries

KCC Invites Views on the Draft Newbridge Settlement Plan
|
Kildare County Council has published Proposed Variation No. 2 of the County Development Plan 2023–2029, focusing on the Draft Newbridge Settlement Plan. Once adopted, it will guide the town’s growth, addressing issues such as congestion, community safety, sustainable transport, and social infrastructure, while also enhancing Newbridge’s economic role and cultural heritage.
The public consultation is now open until Thursday, 16th October at 4 pm. Documents are available at consult.kildarecoco.ie, Newbridge Community Library, and Áras Chill Dara, Naas.
An information event will be held on Tuesday, 23rd September, 4–7 pm at Cedral St. Conleth’s Park, Main Street, Newbridge (W12 X067).

Consultation on Ireland’s Social Climate Plan Launched
|
Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, Darragh O’Brien, has launched a public consultation on the development of Ireland’s Social Climate Plan. Over the lifetime of the Plan (2026-2032), Ireland can recoup up to 75% of the cost of eligible measures within the Plan (to a maximum of €663 million) from the EU Social Climate Fund.
