The deadline for receipt of nominations has been extended to Tuesday the 9th of December at 4:00pm for the following positions:

What is the Local Community Safety Partnership?
The LCSP is a new initiative established under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024, designed to bring together community representatives, public sector bodies and stakeholders to improve safety and wellbeing in our communities. The LCSP replaces the former Joint Policing Committees and represents a more inclusive, collaborative and strategic approach to community safety. The new Partnership approach aims to encourage greater community participation and empowerment to foster greater feelings and experiences of safety in their localities.
The LCSP will play a vital role in enhancing community safety.
The partnership approach is built on two premises:
- Every community is different and has different problems and issues,
- Responding to those problems and issues requires a range of inputs from across Government, voluntary sector, local services and the community.

Committee Composition
Kildare LCSP will consist of a maximum of 30 members, including representatives from:
- Elected Members of Kildare County Council
- Public Sector (Local Authority, Gardai, HSE, Tusla)
- Education
- Business
- Community representatives (including youth, new and minority communities, social inclusion)
- Other relevant areas of expertise
What does being a member of the LCSP involve?
- A minimum of 6 meetings per annum to take place. Members must attend regular meetings, including public and closed sessions. It is anticipated that meetings will be held during business hours.
- Meetings to take place in Naas or other suitable locations as agreed in advance
- Representatives may be required to sit on working groups and/ or subgroups of the broader committee and attend training and information sessions.
- Chair and Vice Chair to be elected at the inaugural meeting of the Kildare LCSP.
- Each Safety Partnership is required to develop and adopt a Local Community Safety Plan during its term.
- Length of term: 3 years
Members will be required to:
- Develop and implement the Kildare Local Community Safety Plan,
- Collaborate with other members and stakeholders to address safety concerns
- Promote inclusive, respectful, and evidence-based approaches to community safety
- Uphold the guiding principles of the LCSP, including social inclusion, harm prevention and accountability
- Representation should reflect the diversity of the community, with particular attention to underrepresented groups, including young people, new and minority communities, persons with disabilities, LGBTQI+ individuals, older persons and individuals experiencing social and economic disadvantage.

Skills and attributes required for the position
- Good communication skills
- A keen interest and awareness of safety issues in the area the candidate represents
- Be affiliated with residents’ groups or other community-based organisations
- Have prior experience working on community-related initiatives.
- Previous experience working on boards or committees is desirable.
Nominations are being invited from PPN member groups to fill vacancies on the Kildare Local Community Safety Partnership for the following positions:

Seats Available:
- Local Resident Representative (Kildare/Newbridge MD)
- Youth Representative (18-25 years) OR A person working or volunteering with young people who will represent their voice

What is the role of a PPN Representative on the LCSP
- Act as a link between the community and the Local Community Safety Partnership, sharing information and feedback in both directions.
- Represents the views and interests of the PPN membership, not just their own personal views.
- Communicates relevant information from committees back to the PPN and its members.
- Works collaboratively with other representatives to strengthen community voice and influence in decision-making.
What does being a PPN Representative involve?
The role of the Representative is a rewarding one, but requires you to make a time commitment to fulfil the role including:
- Induction Training
- 6 LCSP Meetings a year (Daytime)
- Meetings with PPN Advisory Groups as required (Evening)
- Quarterly Meetings with PPN Representative Network (Evening)

Nominations Guidelines
- Nominating groups must be registered with Kildare Public Participation Network for at least 6 months.
- Groups must have full membership and be a member of the respective seat e.g. nominations for a Kildare-Newbridge MD seat must be a PPN member group registered in the Kildare – Newbridge MD.
- Nominations can only be made with the candidate’s knowledge and approval.
- Each Group can nominate one candidate only per seat. If groups nominate more than one candidate, the first nomination received will be accepted.
- If we receive more nominations than seats available, elections will take place through online voting.
- Nominees must have no political affiliations.
- Candidates are requested to submit a short profile (written in the first person) to accompany their nomination form (no more than 250 words, showing relevant experience). This profile will be made public for the purpose of elections. We also request a photo for the ballot paper (this is optional).
