Heritage Council: Community Heritage Grant Scheme
|
Funding is now open for community groups and non‑profit organisations to protect, share, and celebrate local heritage. The scheme supports both new and ongoing heritage projects, including: • Conservation plans, surveys, and reports • Biodiversity and conservation works (sites, buildings, collections, objects) • Workshops and training to build heritage skills • Collections management and biodiversity initiatives • Digital heritage resources • Specialist conservation equipment
All funded projects must also host an in‑person event during National Heritage Week to showcase their work to the public.

Creative Communities Grant 2026
|
Kildare County Council is delighted to launch the Creative Communities Grant 2026, part of the Creative Ireland programme supporting culture, wellbeing, and community creativity. This funding opportunity invites ambitious, inclusive, and community‑centred projects that will deepen public engagement with culture across Kildare.
Proposals may explore areas such as heritage, performance, visual arts, media, design, and craft, while addressing themes including climate and biodiversity, equality, cultural diversity, wellbeing, sense of place, and local identity. Grants from €1,500 to €10,000 are available to individual creatives, community groups, and SMEs. Applications that broaden access to culture, foster collaboration, run over a sustained period, and actively involve public participation are especially encouraged.

The New Solutions Pilot Grants funding call is now open for applications. This funding aims to support organisations testing innovative ideas that address key social challenges in Ireland.
Whether you’re part of a charity, social enterprise, community group, or nonprofit, this is a great chance to bring your innovative idea to life and create positive change in communities across Ireland. Online application clinics will take place today, Wednesday 18 February, and next Wednesday 25 February.. Applicants are encouraged to attend these online application clinics for guidance on eligibility and the application process.

Kildare Bereavement Network: Free information evening
|
If you have been bereaved recently, or many years ago, or supporting someone who is grieving, you are invited to attend a FREE bereavement information evening on Tuesday 24th March, 7pm-9pm, The Keadeen Hotel, Kildare, W12T925. You will have an opportunity to meet representatives from a wide range of local Kildare bereavement services offering practical information, resources, and support.
Guest speaker Mary Kenneally, will give an overview of grief and bereavement, followed by a Q&A panel discussion with representatives from local bereavement services supporting bereaved children, young people and adults.

Kildare County Council in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs are planning to celebrate Africa Day on the 25th of May 2026.
Applications are now open to any interested groups/organisations wishing to host an Africa Day celebration/event/initiative. This event should take place as close as possible to Africa Day 2026, and ideally no later than ten days either side of Saturday, 25th of May 2026.

Associated Events for Ireland’s EU Presidency 2026
|
Dear Stakeholder,
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFA) have encouraged Departments to engage with stakeholders to identify appropriate EU Presidency Associated Events through a call for submissions. A standard application form is attached.
Associated Events are events led and funded by stakeholders, academia, civil society groups, etc that are endorsed by our Department (DRCDG) and have links to the Presidency policy priorities. There is no funding provision associated.
Associated events which are successful in the application process may be included in the official Presidency calendar and may use official Presidency branding.
Please note that the acceptance of an application infers no guarantee of endorsement by DRCDG.
All event costs must be met by the organising organisation.
If your organisation is interested in being considered for this Call, the attached application form must be completed and sent to SICUCo-ord@drcdg.gov.ie before 12 noon on 25 February 2026 .

Have Your Say: Access to Cash in Ireland

The Central Bank has opened a public consultation on how Ireland’s new Access to Cash legislation will be put into action, and they want to hear from communities, local groups.
Local Access Issues (“Local Deficiency”): Some areas may struggle to access cash services. The Central Bank will be creating guidelines on how they identify when a community is facing a real gap in access. They want your views on how this should work.

Kildare County Council has published the Proposed Material Alterations to Variation No. 3 of the County Development Plan 2023–2029 — and they’re now open for public consultation.
These alterations include updates to:
• Increasing Housing targets and growth allocations
• Release of Phase 2 residential lands
• Strategic development areas (e.g., Naas NWQ, Confey)
• Zoning changes across towns, villages & rural settlements
• New planning objectives linked to infrastructure, density & serviced sites

Kildare County Council is inviting submissions on Proposed Variation No. 4 to the Kildare County Development Plan 2023–2029.
What is Proposed?
The Variation updates the County’s Landscape Character Assessment (LCA), replacing the 2004 study with a newly completed Landscape Character Assessment (2025).
The updated Landscape Character Assessment provides a clearer, evidence-based framework for managing development across County Kildare.

National Community Safety Survey
|
Ireland’s first National Strategy for Improving Community Safety is being developed as part of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024.
The National Strategy for Improving Community Safety aims to respond to the needs and concerns of communities and help public services and communities work together in a joined-up way to make communities safer.
This survey is to support the public to provide their views on community safety to inform the development of the strategy. This survey is open to anyone living in the Republic of Ireland.
People have different experiences of community safety. The National Office want to hear from people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences living in the Republic of Ireland today. It takes just 10 to 15 minutes and is your opportunity to share your experience and to help public service agencies and communities to work together to make communities safer.
