DESCRIPTION:Ken Kavanagh from Kare will officially open County Kildare Social Inclusion Week along with the four Kildare Special Olympics Medalist from the Berlin 2023 competition. \n  \nKen Kavanagh Bio \n“My name is Ken Kavanagh and I have been working with KARE for 24 years now. The majority of that time has been in the Sports Department running sports coaching and competition opportunities for our service users. KARE have always had a keen interest in Inclusion and the development of their Local Service model for day and residential services and their growing supported employment programme. Inclusion through sport has always been on our agenda in the Sports Department as we believe that sport does provide a great way to allow people integrate in a fun and relaxed way. \nSpecial Olympics Worldwide has embarked on a programme of integrated sports called Unified Sport and this will continue to grow and allow athletes with and without disabilities to compete together\, side by side and further enhance the opportunities for our athletes to be included and integrated into their communities. \nWorking with and coaching the Olympic athletes is a rewarding and inspiring part of my role\, ensuring that each athlete reaches their highest potential. I am inspired every day by their dedication and commitment”.
