Climate Action Training

This free training day is for anyone involved in their local environmental network, furthering your skills for climate dialogue and action.

About this Event

This training is open to those involved in their local environmental network, and PPN environmental representatives.

We will have three action focused workshops throughout the day:

1. From National to Local – How to use the National Climate Action Plan in local work

This workshop is hosted by Simon O’Rafferty, who has been working on an EPA funded project which focuses on examining the design of policy interventions for sustainable behaviour change. Simon will break down the national plan, and show how it can be used to direct your own work, and where community groups and projects can work alongside national plans to strengthen both local and national work.

2. Understanding Access to Information on the Environment requests

The AIE Regulations 2007 to 2018 gives citizens the right to access information on the environment from public authorities.

Under the Regulations, information relating to the environment held by, or for, a public authority must, subject to certain exceptions, be provided on request to any person.

Understanding how to submit and follow up with an AIE request is valuable in seeking information that may be of help to you in local projects.

This workshop is hosted by Fred Logue, a lawyer specialising in Intellectual Property Law, Information Law and Commercial Law. Fred will break down the do’s and dont’s of an AIE request.

3. Re-wilding and Biodiversity

Hosted by Pádraic Fogarty, Campaign Officer at the Irish Wildlife Trust and author of ‘Whittled Away’, the tale of Ireland’s fast disappearing nature and what can be done about it. Pádriac will be sharing his experience of wildlife in Ireland and the concept of re-wilding.

Everyone is welcome to live stream it at home or organise a watch party for your group.
